Gents I phoned Glasgow two weeks ago enquirering about any pension entitlment whislt served in Bosnia in the TA. I also asked about previous service prior to 1975. i was informed that all my contributions would have been put back into the state system on my leaving the army so I was not entitled to any pension from that period but I would get one for my time in Bosnia. I felt that the lad who answered me was giving me clear info.

HiGuys Thought the site was stuck but I came across a article in the local newspaper [NORHTERN ECHO] It was by a EX DENBURY BOY.hIS NAME IS MICHEAL CASTLE. He did 9 years so that puts him at Denbury around 1959/60 As he was demobbed in 1972. The article was about pensions for people who served more than 4 years who left the army before 1975. As the article said we all paid into this during our service. Have any of you guys out there got any views or information on this.

Hello Les.I know that we knew each other at Denbury but details elude me after all this time. Your name is familiar to me from those days. The Michael Castle you mention might be one of the Castle twins who I knew well at Denbury. Phil being his brother. I heard that they did good in the Corps and assumed that they had both done their full time one or both becoming officers I believe.(Anyone reading this who can clarify their career paths paths please let me know.) With regards to pensions It is my understanding that anyone who seved between 1948 and 1975 would only get a pension if they did the full 22 years service. The govenment refuses to acknowledge our claims that we paid in for a pension and I beleive that the appeal to the European court was unsuccessful too. there are literally hundreds of thousands of us who did time in service between those years and my theory is that it would be too expensive to acknowledge our rights to a pension even though those pensions would all be peanuts in todays money. Hope you are keeping well Les and hope to see you one day. We are going to Barnsley next year are you?Regards and best wishes. Mike.

Hi Mike & Les.the subject of a pension cropped up for me about 10 years ago when my parents bumped into an old pal of mine who inquired about me and asked if i was drawing aa pension . He gave me a phone number to ring which i did and the guy on the other end appeared to think my inquiry was amusing and dismissed it out of hand saying that i needed to have done 20 years to qualify. So no joy on that path i reckon

I worked with Eric Blake in Scarborough for GCHQ for several years. He was trying to work his ticket by saying that he came out in a rash whenever he was at work. I think he had greater plans for himself than working for the government I seem to remember he was doing up flats for resale. Always ducking and diving. Not sure when he left the job possibly late 70 s.

Dave Roger Griffiths appeared about 3 pages back. I sent him a Email but got no reply. He is in Earby Yorkshire. Don t know if that is near you. Also a chap called smith who now lives in Plymouth. A number of people are looking for Jim Scott from Leeds. Eric Blake has been mentioned a lot but not appeared.

Hello Paul. Yes I remember you from Denbury. You were quite the footballer. In fact when I was at the Barnsley reunion you were talked about. Ron Chisholm and myself had a good old conversation and you and your considerable football talents where did you go to from Denbury but didn t I play against you in Germany at some time. But it is good to hear that you are hopfully fit and well. Best Regards LES
