Hi Chris! (Jones). I assume you are going via Caen? Pegasus Bridge is just a few miles from the port of Ouistriham. My mother used to help out a Colonel Woods in the mid seventies, He was a JAG then, but after many years I found out that he was a lieutenant in the Ox and Bucks and was in charge of the second glider at the Bridge on June 6 1944. His uniform and medals should be in the museum now as I asked about him last time we were there and they told me his wife had just gifted them to the museum. He got the Legion 'D' Honour from the French and a piddling MBE (Military) from the British Government!!
From Oustriham just head up on the COAST ROADS towards Cherbourg, all the beaches are en-route and many small and large museums. Have a great time Chris. Mind the boulders in the car park at Omaha beach!!

Hi All. As part of the Aldershot branch of the RSA I’m coordinating a visit to Beacon Barracks in Stafford, the current home of 1, 16 & 22 Signal Regiments on the 20th June this year. 16 Sigs are hosting us for the day which includes presentations of their modern-day role, lunch and practical demonstrations of their equipment. 1 and 22 Sigs will have some inputs (a presentation only) but it will mainly be a 16 Sigs event.
The numbers for the visit is limited but I do have some spare capacity if anyone is interested especially any ex-16 Sigs personnel. You can contact me by email cendean@btinternet.com

Caught up with Jackie on Saturday for a coffee. Unfortunately not enough time to show her more of WA.Can I advise anyone thinking of visiting Perth to contact me before arranging accommodation as we have plenty of room.

John Birkinshaw has kindly offered me a lift so barring hospital admissions, I too will be attending Jocks funeral and I believe, the wake.

Thanks Mike (Prof) Boisse' for the information. I have the ferry booked for 1 May and shall drive to Caen for a few days initially. Pegasus Bridge museum will be my first visit. Then after a few days seeing the beaches etc, I intend going to Amiens and seeing the Australian Memorial before heading north east via Albert, Bapaume, Arras, Vimy, Ypres Menin Gate.
